As a freelance journalist, author, and photographer, I have worked on assignments in more than 80 countries on six continents for more than 50 nationally and internationally recognized media outlets. 

 

My work has been published by Outside, National Geographic Traveler, American Cowboy, Afar Media, Lonely Planet, Conde Nast, Sunset Magazine, Canadian Living, USA Today, GQ Magazine, Reader’s Digest, and dozens of other major magazines, newspapers, journals and websites, and I have had gallery shows and exhibitions in the US, Canada, South Korea, and China.

I am currently studying to become a wilderness survival expert in the same tradition as Paul Bunyan, though my beard has yet to mature, and blue ox are less common than they once were. My graduate thesis is titled “Grizzly Wrestling, Turtle Surfing, and the Art of Moose Poop Chandling.” To make ends meet, I moonlight as a writer, photographer, and journalist. I enjoy feasting on fermented shark and gold-flecked caviar, surfing glacier icebergs, kissing reef sharks on the nose, fish-assisted pedicures, helicopter-aided scuba diving, backcountry heli-skiing, and swinging artisan leather-handled axes. I've written a couple of books and a handful of films.
